The Quad-40

Remote Weapon System

The Quad-40 RWS combines (4) 40mm tubes mounted on a remotely controlled, tactical gimbal for lethal or less than lethal deployment when fired remotely from air, land, or sea platforms, day or night, or in any weather conditions.  The Quad-40 is designed to accessorize drones, robots, vehicles, aircraft, tripods, or sea-based platforms via a quick-attach plate (Picatinny/Arca rails) for rapid deployment/recovery. Fires any/all tubes individually or simultaneously and has a cUAS capability.

General Information

Capabilities

  • The Quad-40 RWS is designed as a lightweight, fully articulating tactical gimbal firing a low-velocity 40-mm family of rounds.
    • Lethal 40mm grenades: anti-personnel and anti-armor
    • Less-than-lethal 40mm rounds: counter-drone, smoke, illumination, beanbag, foam rubber, foam rubber, gas, or pepper balls
  • The Quad-40 can be attached to various air, ground, or sea-based platforms, such as drones, robots, vehicles, vessels, or stationary tripods.
    • Mission examples: drone-attached assault, static defensive perimeter (networks multiple systems), robotic dog patrol, etc.
  • It features a universal mounting system with a quick connect/release mechanism that facilitates rapid, simple attachment to any platform.
  • The Quad-40 has air-to-air counter-drone capabilities, and optional AI targeting software can be added.

Range

  • Ground Control Station-Airlink transmitter/transmission of RC, telemetry, remote control of the optical targeting system while viewing live-feed camera images, and the launcher articulation and firing for up to 20km (terrain dependent).
  • SECO Remote Handheld Control Unit is remote-controlled and fired by solenoids.
  • Rechargeable lithium batteries power the components with options to match flight or stationary run time.

Operating System

  • Mil-Spec rated software and hardware to meet the warfighter requirements, including the following:
    • Safe Fire Control Switch
    • Pitch and Yaw Gimble Controls
    • Clear video and audio control options
  • The operators have a sighting camera, laser range finder, and fire control.
    • One operator is required with a static position: one fire control operator
    • Two operators are required with a moving platform: one pilot and one fire control operator
  • The fire control and target acquisition systems include:
    • Infrared Laser System
    • AI Targeting Acquisition System
    • EO/IR low light video with 30x optics, 10x digital zoom, fog filter, and IP connectors with a thermal sight option

Operation

When loading the Quad-40 RWS multi-barrel launcher, the loading handle is pulled back and opened, moving the barrel system forward (as depicted below). The 40mm rounds are then loaded into the (4) breach chambers. The loading handle is returned home to the closed and locked position. This action has cocked the (4) individual strikers (firing pins), and the Quad-40 is now ready to fire (4) projectiles individually or simultaneously.
